DIY Project...I hope to accomplish in the next year

So, as much as I try, I'm not much of a DIY'er.  I start out with huge plans to complete a project and I usually tend to fall short because it never turns out how I invision.  Some people just have that touch....they can turn trash into treasure and make it look dang good.  Not me...I'm an instant results type of person.  I'm not patient, I like to see results right away and if I don't, I throw in the towel.  With that being said, there is one project that I plan on giving time, patience and perfection.  And that is why it's going to take me awhile to prep and plan to make sure it's done right from start to finish.
Let me rewind a little bit...when I was young, I loved my grandparents bedroom furniture.  It was big and unique and I loved the pale green and yellow colors that it was painted (it was made in the 70's).  Last year, my grandparents moved to a new house and I was given their furniture which totally excites me.  If you look past the pale green and yellow stain/paint job, it's gorgeous furniture that is one of a kind.  It's hand carved, so heavy and solid and has this awesome vintage look.  Right now, it's sitting at my parents house until I figure out which direction I want to go in restoring my future bedroom suite.  I've been looking through catalogs and on websites trying to figure out exactly what color I want to stain it and I think I found the perfect look:

I just love this room....everything about it, even down to the mirror and horse.  It's simple, rustic and the furniture reminds me exactly of my grandparents (except my headboard is a little taller).  I plan on repainting our bedroom a dark grey and adding a piece of accent furniture to offset the look a little bit.  But, I hope to get started this Spring...I'll post pictures of my progress.  I'm so excited to start!!
