Hanging flowers

Hanging flowers
(country style magazine march 2011)

Although most hanging flowers are shown outside, I've always wanted to have hanging flowers in my room. I'm loving the hanging flowers in tin buckets idea (and the frame idea is pretty neat too). Maybe I'll try that.

I'd rather have a life of oh wells than a life of what ifs.

Well, I've been a little absent from the blog. For good reasons, I tell you! I've been a busy little bee and I can't wait to share with you what I've been up to. Anyway, I've been obsessing over this girl's wallpaper lately... it kind of needs to get into my life, like right now ;)

The title quote I found somewhere floating around the Interwebs; I'm not sure where it's from (or if the person who said it is just anonymous), but it applies to my life right now. Or everyone's life for that matter.

Juliet Totten of Poppies and Posies keeps sure keeps a lovely abode. I love the exposed brick! I also love the small touches, like the jar of paintbrushes and the boots used as pencil holders. I have got to implement these details into my bedroom somehow!

Hideaway

Hideaway

Hideaway
Firstly, wouldn't any of these homes make the perfect summer hideaway?! They have houses like these allll over the East Coast (where i'm originally from). Too bad I didn't have the appreciation for those houses then like I do now. Oh welp. That's the way it always seems to go... you don't know what you have until you don't have it, right?

Anywho, a few weeks ago, I went for a walk with a friend and spotted the cheeriest Southern looking cottage house with a porch and rocking chairs in the front (kinndaa like the fourth picture). And of course I didn't have my camera with me to take a picture; major womp. I'll probably end up going back looking super sketchy with my camera while taking a picture of a stranger's house haha. Anything for the sake of the photo!

Mason jar chandeliers

Mason jar chandeliers
My friend is in the midst of redoing her bedroom. She showed me these amazing mason jar chandeliers that she wants to replicate in a little DIY project. You can make them as big as you want by adding more mason jars. I personally like the smaller ones; they're more quaint. Seriously, who comes up with these things?!

Forget about living in a cottage; I think I'll just live in a fort.

I found this little article on Erin Fetherston's NYC apartment via Late Afternoon and deemed it swoon-worthy enough to share here as well. I'm not much of a modern-style girl, BUT I love the mix of vintage and modern aesthetics, as well as the clean lines. Not to mention Erin Fetherston is pretty much the cutest thing ever ;)

Dream cottage

Dream cottage
(traditional home)

I've always wanted to live in a house with a little cottage in my backyard. One of my childhood friends had a 'playhouse' (which was actually a fancy word for a fancy shed), and I remember asking my mom 'why don't we have a playhouse like that?!'. We don't have a yard right now, but perhaps sometime I will get my dream cottage. Here are some swoon-worthy cottages around the world. I am drooling!

Pink houses are really the neatest. There's an old dilapidated pink house down the street from us that's for sale. Is it strange that I would mildly want to live there? I'm dying to see if they'll have an open house; I'm so curious to see what it looks like in the inside, especially since it hasn't been lived in for quite awhile.

I love frame collages and just discovered mirror collages. I really like them, but I still think I like frame collages more. Something about seeing yourself in several mirrors at once reminds me of a fun house. I dunno. Still pretty though, no?

Do you ever get that feeling where you're just itching to be in so many places at once you can hardly sit still? That's how I feel right now. And looking at these pictures of France certainly doesn't help it. It's hard to explain. It's sort of an unsettled feeling, as if there are so many things you want to do and places you want to go it clutters your mind until you can't think straight. Needless to say, France, you are killing me with your quaintness and I want to go visit you badly.

Umm... how cute are these?! I wish not every wall in my bedroom was filled so that I could do this. And who cares if these are for spring? I'd have them hanging up all year round. You can view the full tutorial here.
